Owen criticizes Doherty
Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has criticized Tottenham defender Matt Doherty after losing to Liverpool on Thursday.
“The thing is with Serge Aurier, I don’t rate him, I have made no secret of the fact that he makes too many mistakes (but) I don’t know what alternative he has as a right-back,” he told Optus Sport.
“Doherty can’t defend either – he’s a full-back – he bought him, good at going forward, can’t defend to save his life! They don’t have a right-back to defend at the club. It’s a problem area.
“If you want to play against someone with a weak right-back, Sadio Mane is the last person you want to play against because he’s going to expose you – that’s exactly what he did.”
