Mikel Arteta’s team selection for today’s Premier League game against the Wolves has generated a lot of reaction from Arsenal fans.
The Gunners enter the game after a goalless draw with Manchester United last weekend.
Arsenal’s away form in the league, however, has been impressive since their 2-1 loss at Everton before Christmas as they set to claim a fourth straight win on the road in competition.
If the north London team can leave Molineux with all three points – just like in the corresponding game last season – they will overtake bitter rivals Tottenham in the table, albeit possibly for a few days.
To do just that and avenge the 2-1 loss to Wolves at Emirates Stadium earlier this season, Arteta has resisted the temptation to make some changes to the team that started against Man United.
There’s a change, to be precise.
The only change is that Bukayo Saka will return to the starting line-up in place of Gabriel Martinelli, who falls on the bench, where he will be assisted by returning captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as well as Dani Ceballos.
As expected, Bernd Leno, Hector Bellerin and Alexandre Lacazette are among those who keep their seats, but Kieran Tierney misses again.
Arsenal XI: Leno; Bellerin, Holding, David Luiz, Cedric; Partey, Xhaka; Pepe, Smith Rowe, Saka; Lacazette
Most of the reactions from Arsenal supporters on social media centered on Saka’s addition to the team as well as the strength of the bank.
