Reiss Nelson sent an emotional message to Joe Willock after the central midfielder agreed to loan Newcatle from Arsenal.
The 21-year-old saw his first team opportunities limited this season as the majority of his appearances were in the Europa League.
Willock’s playing time has been further constrained by the arrival of Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard, which means that he is unlikely to have many minutes until the end of the campaign.
He has played 16 games in all competitions for Arsenal this season. His best performances were in the Europa League, where he scored three goals and made three assists in six games.
“We are discussing things with some players and some clubs and if we do something before the deadline it is because we believe it is the right thing for their development,” said Arteta when asked about possible expenses on the cut-off date has been.
Willock’s colleague Reiss Nelson, a graduate of Hale End Academy, sent an Instagram message to his close friend after it was confirmed the midfielder had agreed to join Newcastle.
