TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: signing
Nashville SC has acquired winger Rodrigo Pineiro from Uruguayan club Danubio, the club announced on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old Pineiro has had three goals and three assists in 20 games in all competitions for Danubio this season. So far in his young career he has played 39 games in the Uruguayan top division and played two internationals with the U-20 national team of Uruguay.
“Rodrigo has the pace and creativity to be a threat in the final third of the field both on and off the ball,” Nashville GM Mike Jacobs said in a statement from the club. “It gives our attack a unique dynamic.”

Pineiro previously played for Penarol, the same team that brought LAFC strikers Diego Rossi and Brian Rodriguez to the MLS. Pineiro turned pro with Uruguayan club Miramar Misiones in 2016.
The winger joins a growing attack in Nashville that started slowly in its expansion season but improved as the season progressed. Striker-designate Jhonder Cadiz joined during the season, making his first start in the playoffs, while DP Hany Mukhtar struggled with some minor injuries.
The inaugural season in Nashville was a complete success as the club set defensive records for an expanding club before winning two playoff games. They fell in the semi-finals of the Eastern Conference against the eventual MLS Cup champion Columbus Crew SC.
