“Okay, in foreplay there was a great discussion about the role of Sam Bennett in Calgary between Kelly and Cassie, especially since the Flames in the middle are so good.
This morning it was rumored that Bennett might want to change scenery, and I called his agent Darren Ferris, who said, “Yeah, that’s right, he wants some thought.”
The flames are silent about it. No comment from them.
One thing I learned from calling around is that they are in no rush to do it. They like their depth in the middle. They don’t run for a step, but according to Sam Bennett’s agent, he wants a change of scene. “
Eric Francis: (to Friedman’s report) “This adds a fascinating dynamic / distraction to the mix as the 24 year old is Flames’ best playoff performer but is a bottom six winger in every regular season. Is that the Dubois Effect? “
- Randy Sportak: “There is an easy way for Bennett to earn a bigger role: 1. Finding consistency; 2. Seize good opportunities; 3. Stop taking silly stick wounds. You can’t be a top 6 player if you are receiving an OZ hooking penalty that regularly. “
Wes Gilbertson: (to Friedman’s report) “He was either a fourth line center or a third line winger. So this is all about opportunities. “
Dubois, jets awaiting decision from the Canadian government
Sportsnet: The recently acquired Pierre-Luc Dubois is still in quarantine in Winnipeg. According to Chirs Johnston, he has been granted a “work quarantine” by the Manitoba government that would allow him to start skating this week, but they require final approval from the Canadian government.
The standard quarantine is 14 days, but it should be reduced to seven days.
“It makes a huge difference in its availability,” said Johnston. “Of course, if he could get on the ice this week, he would be ready to start in about a week. If he doesn’t skate during this time, the timeline will be pushed back. “
