Flames are in no rush
TSN: Darren Dreger when asked where the Calgary Flames are to grant Sam Bennett’s request for a change of scene.
“Trade speculations always cause a stir, especially in Canada. But the position of the flames on Sam Bennett is no different than a year ago: you are in absolutely no rush to act on it. It has to be the right fit. It has to work best for the Flames or GM Brad Treliving is ready to hold his own and use Bennett as a potentially impactful player for Calgary. “
Penguins looking for GM
TSN: Frank Seravalli on the Pittsburgh Penguins hunt for a new GM.
“The Pittsburgh Penguins have formally applied for and been given permission to speak to a trio of GM assistants from across the NHL, including Chris Drury of the Rangers, Chris MacFarland of the Colorado Avalanche and John Ferguson Jr. of the Boston Bruins. It is important to note that it is still relatively early in the process. The penguins have received more than 20 expressions of interest. They haven’t heard from some people that they are actually still on their list, and hope to hopefully narrow that list down to potentially six or seven authentic candidates by the end of the week and then hire their next GM to replace Jim Rutherford within the next two weeks. “
