Two fans at Monday’s game between the Atlanta Hawks and LA Lakers were kicked out of the arena after a verbal argument with LeBron James, which was severe enough to halt the game.
Footage of the screaming game between James and the fans went viral quickly, but it wasn’t until after the game that one of the women involved explained her side of the story.
When the woman posted on Instagram under the name “julianaacarlos,” she said she was kicked out after speaking to James, who she said was staring at her husband.
“LeBron James looked at my husband during the game and berated him,” she said.
“And I got up and I’m not going to talk to my husband, talk to my husband again and I’ll fuck you.
“And he started barking and he goes ‘shut your mouth, stupid b *** h’ and I go ‘you make your damn mouth b *** h’.”
James said he didn’t think the fans should have been escorted out of the arena but said he thought the group might have been drinking.
“There was a back and forth between two grown men, he said his piece, I said my piece, then someone else jumped in and said their piece.
“I don’t think they should get kicked out … but they might have had a few drinks, and they could probably have kept it going during the game, and it wouldn’t have been about the game anymore.”
“I think the referees did what they were supposed to do.”
The Atlanta fan incident was LeBron’s second run-in with someone who’d been in court for the past seven days.
James stared at a Cavs employee who was overjoyed to have a shot at the end of the third quarter of the Lakers-Cavs matchups in Cleveland last Monday.
LeBron scored 21 points (46 total) in the fourth quarter that evening, winning his old team.
And despite the after-school activities that took place in Atlanta on Monday, James and the Lakers stood up to a spirited Hawks comeback to claim a 107-99 win.
LeBron finished the race on 21 points, seven rebounds and nine assists as the Lakers improved to the league’s best 16-6 record.
