James Harden reached out to Kyrie Irving, who refuses to be vaccinated despite being mandated by athletes in New York City.
Harden’s comments followed a report by The Athletic’s Shams Charania that the Nets would also not allow Irving to play in games outside of New York and that they would not offer him a renewal.
“Kyrie believes in his beliefs and stands firm,” Harden told reporters on Wednesday. “We respect it, we all love Ky. But we have a job to do and I still want to prepare myself for a championship. The entire organization is on the same path. “
When asked if he spoke to Irving while the Star Point Guard was away, Harden said, “I didn’t speak to him”.

His blunt comment – a clear indication that he is tired of talking about Irving – was followed by an awkward silence and the close of the press conference.
Nets manager Steve Nash also spoke about the organization’s decision not to allow Irving to play for the team part-time.
“It was a tough decision,” said Nash. “But I think it was solid and understandable for everyone. We just have to keep going. And when things change, it will be incredible to have him back in the league. “
