Former NBA guard Isaiah Thomas will play for Team USA in the FIBA AmeriCup tournament that will take place in February. according to Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN.
It’s been almost a year since fans got the chance to see the two-time all-star on the hardwood as he’s been a free agent since February 2020.
Thomas went to Twitter and announced the exciting news:
Thomas received medical attention and surgery after a battle with a persistent hip injury that occurred during his senior season with the Celtics in 2016-17.
According to Michael Kaskey-Blomain, he was traded from team to team towards the end of Thomas’ NBA run with tenures with the Cavaliers, Lakers, Nuggets and the Wizards, where he averaged 12.2 points and 23.1 minutes. The wizards exchanged him for the Clippers, who in turn renounced him.
This new opportunity with Team USA could be IT’s gateway to showcase his talent and spark NBA teams as he has been aiming for a return to the league since last year.
