FC Cincinnati striker Jürgen Locadia on loan is the subject of interest from Europe, although the situation is far from easy.

Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv is reportedly one of the clubs The hope of signing Locadia and MLSsoccer.com can confirm that several clubs have checked the availability of Locadia, as Pat Brennan of The Cincinnati Enquirer first reported. A source adds that these requests were directed to the player’s parents’ association, Brighton. There is an open line of communication between Brighton and Cincinnati about the best resolution.

The situation is difficult as Locaida’s future is technically not in Cincy’s hands. Locadia is only on loan at Cincinnati from Brighton & Hove Albion until the end of June. Cincy has the purchase option to make him a permanent member of the squad.

The situation is reminiscent of the one in which Locadia first arrived at the FCC.

Locadia was loaned to the German club Hoffenheim, which left him prematurely so that he could sign with MLS. The Dutchman has been public in his desire to stay in Cincinnati, even though his form did not live up to expectations in 2020. GM Gerard Nijkamp said the club made a decision about Locadia in several interviews and press conferences this winter.

While the winter transfer window is closed on Monday in most European countries, the Israeli window will be open until February 11, if the interest reported by Maccabi Tel Aviv turns into a pleasant business for all parties. Other notable leagues with clubs that Locadia could likely afford and whose window extends into February are Russia (February 25), Ukraine (March 2), Austria (February 8), and Switzerland (February 15) .

A source doesn’t add a decision or a deal for Locadia is imminent. If Locadia went, it would open up a designated player spot for Cincinnati and likely significant purchasing power as its original purchase option is said to be $ 10 million.

Locadia, 27, came to Cincy with a lot of talent and hype, even though his first season didn’t go as planned. He had only two goals in 18 games (15 starts). He scored his first goal on his debut in March. The player finished the year with a goal in his final 1,396 minutes.

Locadia was a one-time Dutch prodigy, scoring 72 goals. Before moving to Cincinnati, he scored 42 assists at PSV Eindhoven (2011-17), Brighton (2018-20) and TSG Hoffenheim (2019-20).
