It’s safe to say that Deion Sanders isn’t crazy about Kirk Cousins.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is one of the most polarizing callers in the NFL, and that says something when you consider how many players are under surveillance while playing the most scrutinized position in professional sports.
Legendary NFL cornerback Deion Sanders recently had a few nice words for one of Cousins two superstar receivers, Justin Jefferson, after a ridiculous rookie season. But while praising Jefferson, he had no kind words to say about cousins in the same breath.
According to SKOR NorthSanders said this about cousins to Jefferson:
“I knew you were good, I didn’t know you were going to do anything like this this year, and I’m not crazy about your quarterback. I know his game. I’m not crazy about your quarterback, but your head coach is one of my best friends. I’m not crazy about your quarterback and you worked. “
Yikes Sanders isn’t the biggest fan of Cousins, is he?
However, it’s hard to say that Sanders is unfair. There are probably not too many Viking fans out there who are “crazy” cousins. He’s able to come up with some big numbers, sure. But there’s a reason Stefon Diggs is so happy he left Minnesota. And he made the AFC Championship Game in his first season with the Buffalo Bills and got an upgrade in the downfield passing division with Josh Allen as quarterback.
Kirk Cousins is in the hot seat after the Vikings went 7-9
Even so, Diggs has come up with some big numbers with cousins in Minnesota, and Jefferson is doing the same. In his first season in the NFL, Jefferson was fourth in the NFL when he received yards and hit exactly 1,400. He averaged nearly 16 yards per reception, although he also caught roughly 70 percent of his passes, resulting in a staggering 11.2 yards per target average, who was also fourth in the NFL.
Sanders’ high praise for Jefferson, who was the youngest player in the league to reach 1,000 yards at the age of 21, is not unjustified.
His criticism of cousins? Considering the former Washington quarterback only won 10 games once in his career, Sanders has a point. Defenders of Cousins will, however, suggest that he is eighth in the league in the QB rating this season. However, with players like Jefferson, Dalvin Cook and Adam Thielen around him, the cousins’ individual stats carry less weight when legends and fans criticize him for not getting the job done when it counts. It might be time for her to find a true franchise quarterback in 2021.
