Chelsea closed their first deal on the deadline with defender Jack Wakely, who is on loan at Brighton for the remainder of the season.
Wakely joined the Blues as a U9 player and has gone through the academy system, winning the FA Youth Cup, the Premier Academy League and the U18 Premier League Cup in the 2017/18 season.
The center-back made 18 appearances for the U23s last season and helped the team win the Premier League 2 title on points per game under Andy Myers last season.
Wakely will team up with Brighton’s U-23 year olds and the club’s academy director John Morling is delighted with the 20 year old’s arrival.
“We wanted to bring an additional option into the defense center and we are delighted that Jack has agreed to join by the end of the season,” he told the Brighton website.
“He’s going to give us this extra competition in this area of the field and we can work with and get to know Jack in the coming months.”
The loan will be Wakely’s second from Chelsea; The defender played 15 Southern League games with Basingstoke Town in the 2018/19 season.
