TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: loan
CF Montréal have loaned midfielder Ahmed Hamdi from Egyptian club El Gouna FC, the club announced on Thursday.
The loan will be completed upon receipt of his international transfer certificate and medical examination, and includes an option to purchase for players.
As an Egyptian youth international, Hamdi began his career in Egypt with Al Ahly, where he also played his youth football, before moving to El Gouna in 2019.
He joined Al Ahly’s first team in 2018, scoring two goals and adding three assists in 18 games before being loaned to El Gouna for the 2019 season. In 42 games in the Egyptian Premier League, he scored seven goals and three assists.
“We are very pleased to have taken on this young U-23 international,” said Olivier Renard, CF Montréal sporting director, in Thursday’s press release. “He’s a player with offensive qualities who can play as a box-to-box midfielder or higher than an attacking midfielder. He is very technically skilled and can deliver that final, crucial pass. We hope it confirms what we saw in him so that we can keep him with us for several years. “
