ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Carson Wentz is unhappy in Philadelphia and wants to get out.
Since Carson Wentz joined Jalen Hurts in December 2020, speculation has persisted that Wentz is dissatisfied with his role in the Philadelphia Eagles organization.
We all remember when he led the Eagles to an 11-2 record and was on track to win MVP before a torn ACL ended its 2017 season. We all also remember what happened next – the miraculous Super Bowl run under the command of Nick Foles while Wentz was confined to the sidelines.
Things haven’t been much better for Wentz since then. Last season in particular, the Eagles were under his leadership 3: 8: 1 and he threw as many picks as he intercepted. Standing on a bench for Jalen Hurts didn’t trust Wentz or the organization, and the biggest question mark in the off-season is how the once-imagined franchise quarterback will fit into the future.
Is he still that guy? Does he even want to be?
ESPN’s Adam Schefter has some insights that seem to fuel the narrative that Wentz and the Eagles won’t wait long for each other.
Carson Wentz Rumors: Eagles QB still sounds like he wants out
Schefter discussed the condition of the quarterback in 97.5 The Fanatic with John Kincade, Bob Cooney, and Jamie Lynch, making it clear that the speculation about the fact that Wentz is unhappy in Philly is very real.
“If I had to guess, I would assume that it will be traded,” said Schefter. “That would be my guess. Sometime this off-season. But they don’t want to get rid of him either. You are not.”
If the Eagles aren’t trying to get rid of Wentz but he’s unhappy to be there, fans are likely to assume a deal is coming. The Eagles certainly won’t upset him unless they feel they are getting the right value for it. We’ll keep an eye on the trade rumors as we expect a move this off-season.
