The Dallas Cowboys must avoid these three free agents this winter.
2020 was a huge disappointment for the Dallas Cowboys, who started out as legitimate Super Bowl contenders this year but finished third on NFC East. An end-of-season injury for Dak Prescott didn’t help, but the Dallas defense was an utter disaster that resulted in the post-season sacking of Mike Nolan.
Dan Quinn is the Cowboys’ new defensive coordinator, and his arrival to this side of the ball along with some key off-season additions will help, but Jerry Jones has to be smart with his money as Dallas is only $ 17 million below the salary cap before he finds out what to do with Prescott’s contract? Let’s look at three players the Cowboys should stay away from in order to assemble their best squad in 2021, starting with Hunter Henry.
5. Free Agents The Cowboys Should Avoid – TE Hunter Henry
One thing the cowboys have in their spades is talent in the skill position. The large reception room is manned by Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup, while Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard make a solid tandem in the background. The tight end isn’t that strong as Dalton Schultz is playing a free role this year.
There is an option to upgrade the free agency with Hunter Henry, who has a lot of talent and could be more in the spotlight in Dallas. The problem is he should have a decent contract in the free agency and his actual production was very similar to that of the Schultz Cowboys in 2020.
A guy like Henry could really add a lot to the Cowboys offensive, and if Dallas had more wiggle room on salary caps it would make sense to include him on the list. However, with a multitude of defense needs, Henry is a luxury that the cowboys cannot afford.
